Speaking at a press conference, Dragin said that the strategy will guide the industry towards using clean technology, contribute to environmental protection and make the market more competitive.
He said that the introduction of technology which does not pollute the environment is a better approach than the use of technology to treat pollution at the end of the production process through filters and purifiers.
According to Dragin, not only the public but enterprisers as well will benefit from the use of clean technology, since this will reduce waste materials and the cost of waste management.
The Minister stressed that the recycling industry alone can provide 50,000 jobs and added that the Ministry of Environmental Protection will establish a body which will carry out the project "Mechanism of clean development".
Team manager for the strategy Mica Jovanovic said that the aim of this document is to encourage companies not to use the outdated approach and to apply cleaner production.
Dean of the Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy in Belgrade Ivanka Popovic stressed that this institution is the only pillar of sustainable development in Serbia as it recruits the staff that deals with these problems.
The tasks of the strategy for cleaner production include providing information and raising awareness about cleaner production, supporting projects for cleaner production and establish appropriate policies and regulations.
