Speaking at a press conference held following a meeting with War Crimes Prosecutor Vladimir Vukcevic, Petrovic said that security services are responsible for providing full protection to people who are at risk because of the work they do for the state.
He said that he received assurance from the police and other services that all risks to the prosecutor and his staff will be removed.
Serbia cannot become a country where people live well if the state is not capable of tackling the severest forms of crime through its legislation, the Minister said.
Vukcevic showed the press the anonymous threatening letter that arrived to the Prosecution yesterday and said that he suspects the message, written in Latin script, was sent from Serbia.
He said that it has not been revealed who sent this or earlier threatening letters nor has the FBI, where the first threatening letter was sent for analysis, replied so far.
President of the Belgrade District Court Sinisa Vazic said that the threats to the War Crimes Prosecutor’s Office should be taken seriously and noted that these threats represent a total disregard for the whole judicial system in the country.
