Serbian Minister for Diaspora Milica Cubrilo said today that the competition for co-financing projects and programmes of the ministry, which are meant to improve the connection between the homeland and Serbs abroad, as well as economic and cultural exchange and cooperation, is ongoing.
Cubrilo said at a press conference that organisations belonging to Serbs abroad, NGOs, societies and associations which have main offices in Serbia, are qualified to take part in the competition.
According to Cubrilo, the competition provides an opportunity to all those who have good projects, particularly projects which affirm joint traditions in all areas and emphasise the joint national identity of the homeland and the diaspora.
The organisations which are chosen will sign an agreement on co-financing and will be obliged to implement the project in accordance with the amount determined for expenses in the project documentation. They will have to submit a financial report to the ministry within seven days of completing the project.
The projects approved last year proved that this action is useful, since a large number of young Serbs from abroad gathered in summer schools which were held to promote Serbian traditions and language among Serbs living abroad.
The competition consists of two phases, the first one is going on and will last until April 5, and remaining funds will be transferred to the phase of the competition to be held in autumn.
Projects should be submitted through mail within the specified deadline according to the project guidelines which can be seen on the
website of the Ministry of Diaspora.
