Petkovic said at a press conference that the event will attract over 800 exhibitors, which is a great success if it is taken into account that in 2003 there were only 230 exhibitors. He added that there will also be 114 foreign exhibitors.
He said that the fair will be held in halls 1, 2, 3, 5 and 14, and that hall 3 will house the presentation from Montenegro, while hall 2 will house the hotel industry, education and domestic tourism presentations.
Apart from the usual tourist offerings, some 100 domestic centres will be presented to potential investors, Petkovic said and added that the stand of the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development will display master plans for the development of tourist centres in mountainous regions, along the Danube and at spas. In cooperation with the Ministry of Culture plans for special localities will be presented also.
Director of the Tourist Organisation of Serbia (TOS) Gordana Plamenac said that TOS will have two stands in hall 2. One will present Serbia’s overall tourist offerings with an emphasis on cultural tourism, and the other one will present Serbia’s rural tourist offerings.
According to Plamenac, the rural tourism stand will represent 12 tourist organisations together with 43 rural organisations.
Plamenac said that this year, in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, there will be a special focus on the archaeological site Viminacium, which caused a great deal of interest among journalists at the tourism fair last year in Milan.
She said that announcements will be made at the fair about the general assembly of the Danube Tourist Commission to be held in December, as well as two souvenir fairs to be held in April and May in the Belgrade Ethnographic Museum.
