Working group formed for Serbian, Russian cooperation in fuel economy

Serbian Minister of Trade and Services Predrag Bubalo said today that the government at its session today formed a working group for cooperation between Russia and Serbia in the area of fuel economy, mainly oil and gas.

Bubalo told a press conference that the group will be presided over by Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica and his deputy will be Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Bozidar Djelic, while members will be relevant ministers from the Serbian government’s economic team.

He added that today the Information on the need for cooperation between Serbia and Russia in fuel economy was also adopted, which was presented by Serbian Minister of Energy and Mining Aleksandar Popovic, who recently received the draft agreement by the Russian government on cooperation in this area with Serbia.

The Serbian government also brought a Decision on amendments to the Decision on the amount of special taxes on import of agricultural and food products regarding the removal of tax on import of dehydrated milk and butter during the upcoming four months, said the Minister.

Speaking about edible oil, whose retail price reached RSD 130 per litre, Bubalo said that the government brought a decision last week on import of 15,000 tonnes of edible oil, which may not be sold at a retail price higher than RSD 95 per litre.

The government decided today to establish a commission for new consumer price basket as conditions have been changed since 2000 given that citizens living standards rose, the Minister explained.

Minister of Labour and Social Policy Rasim Ljajic said that the bill on children’s ombudsman will be legal framework for monitoring and promotion of children’s rights, especially those stated in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Ljajic stressed that a Decision was passed at the session today on distribution of one-off assistance to socially disadvantaged groups in Kosovo-Metohija in the amount of RSD 65 million.

The government also allocated funds worth RSD 47,973,455 for expenses to help Red Cross Serbia carry out its programme for public kitchens and noted that the funds will be used to buy groceries for the first quarter of 2008, Ljajic said.
