Novak Djokovic best Serbian athlete

Top ranking Serbian male tennis player Novak Djokovic was elected best athlete of the year 2007 by the Serbian sports daily "Sport".

The 20-year-old Serb won tournaments in Adelaide, Miami, Estoril, Montreal and Vienna. Djokovic was a member of the national team which advanced to the Davis Cup main group. The World No. 3 also was the finalist of the US Open.

The other nominees were: Vanja Udovicic (water polo), Ana Ivanovic (tennis), Jelena Jankovic (tennis), Ivan Miljkovic (volleyball), Maja Ognjenovic (volleyball), coxless pair Nikola Stojić and Goran Jagar (rowing), Kristijan Fris (wrestling), Ognjen Filipovic, Milan Djenadic, Bora Sibinkic and Dragan Zoric (four-man kayak).
