In an interview to Vecernje Novosti daily, Djelic said that Serbia will do everything to obtain the EU candidate status at the EU Summit to be held on December 15, 2008.
The day it signs the SAA, Serbia will submit candidacy for EU membership.
The Deputy Prime Minister said that at the end of this month he will sign an agreement on behalf of the Serbian government with the European Commission, worth €1 billion as EU support to Serbia for the 2007-2010 period.
In 2008 we will have access to the sum of €190.9 million, while the remaining sum of the given €1 billion will be released after Serbia obtains the candidate status. That is EU pre-accession assistance to Serbia, Djelic explained.
He said that €2.5 million will be used for setting up the Agency for the fight against corruption, €5 million for development of IT system in judiciary organs, and €8 million for re-training programmes for the labour force.
