Jeremic, who was on an official visit to Germany in the previous two days, met in Berlin with German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier and other officials, and the focus of the talks was the resolution of future status of Kosovo.
Jeremic said that his impression is that Europe is afraid of violence of Kosovo Albanians that might take place in case they are not satisfied with the future status.
Condoning the violation of international law for that reason can in no way fit into European values, the Minister underlined and added that in other parts of the world, when some group wants to achieve its goals with violence that is called terrorism.
If Serbs are brought into the situation to see Europe as someone who violates principles in order to give independence to people who threat with firearms, then it will be very difficult to maintain support of the people of Serbia to the democratic and European road of their country, Jeremic underlined.
He also said that the Kosovo issue must be resolved by the Europe of the 21st, and not of 19th century and warned that a possible recognition of the unilaterally declared independence of the province would create an international legal vacuum that would serve as a precedent outside Europe as well.
