Milan Markovic
Markovic said that the Memorandum on the budget and economic and fiscal policy for 2008 envisages budgetary expenditures of RSD 642.4 billion and a deficit of RSD 14.3 billion, with reduction of public spending and freezing of salaries of budgetary users.
That means that the budget for 2008 will be by 10% larger than the one for 2007 because this year's budgetary revenues are estimated at RSD 581.8 billion, and expenditures at RSD 595.5 billion, the Minister specified.
According to him, four laws on local and provincial elections might be discussed at the government's session next week, if the concept of election system proposed by the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government is accepted.
Markovic pointed out that the Ministry gave up the majority election system and that coalition partners were offered the proportional system.
He pointed out that the bill regulates the activities of the Security and Intelligence Agency (BIA), Military Security Agency and Military Intelligence Agency.
According to him, the law should regulate the forming of security community and organise the intelligence system in Serbia like in countries where security and intelligence systems are well functioning.
The Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government said that the government passed a Decision to from a working group in charge of monitoring the establishment of prices for essential staples.
This working group will be in the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Trade and Services, the Minister added.
