Deserving artists to get special award payments as of December

Serbian Minister of Culture Vojislav Brajovic announced in Novi Sad today that payment of special awards for deserving artists in the monthly amounts of RSD 50,000 could start in December.

Brajovic invited artists associations to suggest artists who gave the greatest contribution to Serbian culture.
This amount will be added to artists’ pensions and this is not a social programme for artists but obligation of the state to correct its own mistake to the artists who gave so much to their people, the Minister said.
He expressed expectation that there will be 200 to 250 esteemed artists who will receive the right to a monthly supplement to their pensions, which will at least partly correct the injustice done to them.
