The Japanese government donated €360,000 worth of equipment to the oldest theatre in Serbia, the Serbian National Theatre in Novi Sad.
The donation was delivered at a reception last night where Japanese Ambassador to Serbia Tadashi Nagai also addressed the theatre staff and recalled that in the past seven years Japan aided Serbia with over $200 million.
Assistant Minister of Culture Ivana Dimic expressed gratitude to the people and government of Japan and added that such donations to the Serbian culture help establish lasting ties between the two geographically distant people.
A memorial plaque was put up in the foyer of the theatre in honour of the donor and the ballet "The Divine Comedy" was staged.
