Sopocani monastery to use Ras motel, Sopocani hotel

Serbian Minister of Religion Radomir Naumov and Bishop of Raska and Prizren Artemije signed today an agreement on giving use of the Ras Motel and the Sopocani Hotel to the monastery of Sopocani for the purposes of tourism, cultural activities of the Serbian Orthodox Church and educational purposes.

Naumov said that the moment of true cooperation of the state and the church has come and pointed out that the motel and the hotel should help the monastery survive.
The Bishop of Raska and Prizren thanked the Minister on behalf of the Serbian Orthodox Church, the Diocese of Raska and Prizren and the Sopocani monastery. He recalled that the monastery which is on UNESCO’s World Heritage List was without a roof for 235 years.
