Serbian Minister of Culture Vojislav Brajovic and Secretary- General of Council of Europe (CoE) Terry Davis signed today the Framework Convention of the Council of Europe on the Value of Cultural Heritage for Society, and the European Convention on the Protection of Archeological Heritage, while Serbian Minister of Infrastructure Velimir Ilic signed the European Landscape Convention.
These documents were signed in the House of Parliament, at the conclusion of the
International Round Table on “Common heritage in Europe on the move - adding values to the development potential of European regions”.
The Convention on the Value of Cultural Heritage for Society is aimed at promoting cultural diversity, safeguarding cultural heritage and emphasizing the importance of cultural heritage for human development and the quality of life.
The Convention on the Protection of Archeological Heritage was signed in La Valletta on January 16, 1992 with the aim to protect European archeological heritage which is disappearing due to an ever growing number of architectural projects, natural threats and illegal and unscientific excavation.
The European Landscape Convention regards establishment of cooperation in protection, management and planning of various areas which are of great value, and it was signed in Florence on October 20, 2000.
