Serbian Minister of Culture Vojislav Brajovic opened the festival by saying that this is one of the world’s most prestigious theatre festivals and has been the lighthouse of art and area of freedom in the years behind us.
Bitef Art Director Jovan Cirilov said that he is pleased that the Minister, who is also an actor and who took part in Bitef three times, is opening the event.
The festival will be held also in Novi Sad and will end on September 30.
Apart from guests from Israel, the audience will see performances from Hungary, Italy, Slovenia, Finland, Russia, Croatia, Germany and Serbia.
The Belgrade City Assembly provided RSD 34 million for the festival whereas the Ministry of Culture set aside RSD 13 million.
