In this period, the police especially focused on organised groups of all profiles, Jocic said at a press conference presenting the results of the work of the first 100 days.
The Minister underlined that the Ministry of Interior (MUP) became a safe and reliable partner to international law enforcement agencies.
He said that in the previous 100 days, the police broke up six completely new organised criminal groups which damaged the state by over €50 million with illegal import of oil derivatives, theft and sale of cars abroad. The police arrested 92 persons who were members of those groups.
MUP scored excellent results in the fight against illegal trade in narcotics and added that the police cut nine smuggling chains and confiscated 262 kilograms of various types of narcotics, including 100 kilograms of heroin.
Also, the police arrested 43 persons involved in human trafficking.
The Minister stated that the police today broke an organised international criminal group that dealt with cigarette sumggling and arrested the leader of the group Anton Stanaj and several more members.
Speaking about the situation in the safety ground zone in the territory of three southern municipalities, the Minister said that the safety situation is stable, but he warned that due to the situation in the surrounding areas it is necessary to keep security forces at the present level.
He said that the Ministry will pass several new laws, such as the law on citizenship and the law on travelling documents, adding that the law on asulym is being prepared.
Jocic said that the police is continuosly looking for the Haguee indictees who are on the run and that Serbia is firmly resolved to fulfill obligations towards the Hague tribunal.
However, Serbia is unjustly accused that all indictees are in its territory, Jocic said and recalled that some indictees who were said to be in Serbia were arrested in other countries.
