State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development Jasna Matic said at the opening of the event at Expo XXI centre in Belgrade that 15 multinational companies that operate in Serbia have the opportunity to meet over 100 Serbian small and medium-sized enterprises.
According to her, these enterprises are from food, car, wood processing, metal processing, packaging, rubber and plastic processing sectors.
The concept of the action is to simplify the connection of buyers, multinational companies and potential domestic suppliers, Matic said.
SIEPA Director Vesna Peric said that SIEPA sees this programme as opportunity to create a good business climate, create new jobs and exchange experiences, skills and technologies through direct investments.
The aim of the meeting is to increase competitiveness of local small and medium-sized enterprises, Peric highlighted, adding that foreign companies are in this way presented with domestic offer of products and services that can be at lower costs and under better terms of delivery.
She stressed that this is the way to contribute to the connection of foreign and domestic companies and create new jobs, exchange experiences and positively influence GDP and reduce trade deficit.
The event was also attended by Executive Director of the Serbian Investment Promotion Programme (SIPP) John Warney, Head of EAR Operations Christos Gofas and Director of the legal service of Telenor Morten Christansen.
