Putevi Srbije General Manager Branko Jocic, head of EAR Operations Centre Christos Gofas and Director of contracting road company Zajecar Dragan Zdravkovic.
Gofas told a press conference that EAR’s €5 million donation will finance reconstruction of nine sections of the 30.2 kilometre M-25 main road from Kladovo to Nis.
Reconstruction of this crucial traffic artery for the region of eastern Serbia will speed up economic and tourist development, he said and recalled that reconstruction of the Kladovo-Nis section is part of EAR's project of supporting modernisation of 15 municipalities in eastern Serbia.
Traffic infrastructure development represents progress and I hope that in a year’s time we will get new roads in eastern Serbia, he noted.
Jocic and Gofas expressed satisfaction with the signed contract which is based on partner relations.
Jocic also said that Putevi Srbije will work on reconstruction of four bridges on Paracin-Zajecar road noting that the tender for reconstruction of these bridges on the M-5 road will be carried out by the end of the month.
According to Jocic, Putevi Srbije will perform urgent work upon other bridges in this part of Serbia as well.
The works should start by the end of August and are to be completed in six months’ time.
EAR will finance reconstruction of 13 sections and works on reconstruction of 30.2 kilometres of public road.
All permits from local administrations and authorised ministries have been provided for the project.
