Vesna Piperski-Tucakov
Piperski-Tucakov told a press conference that the event also aims to strengthen cooperation with NGOs for youth, and also with a wider range of young people who are not engaged in social development.
We wish to know what the problems of young people are, what is suitable for them regarding the policy towards youth and their views upon resolving problems, she said and added that this survey will be useful to improve the position of young people in Serbia.
She pointed to the fact that this will officially mark the beginning of work on drafting a national strategy for youth. She called upon youth NGOs to prepare for the competition which will be announced on August 15, in which these organisations will be able to present their suggestions concerning the strategy.
Piperski-Tucakov said that the Ministry of Youth and Sports will, at the latest until the middle of December, complete the draft of the strategy. She added that after finishing the draft a public debate will be opened.
The International Youth Day will be observed in Belgrade on Ada Ciganlija, on August 12 from 11 am to 2 pm. Promotion material will be distributed on the occasion and a Frisbee throwing competition will be held.
The events will be organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Office of the UN in Serbia and youth NGOs.
The UN established the International Youth Day aiming to raise awareness of young people on the importance of active engagement in resolving problems which have a bearing upon their position.
