According to the statement by the Ministry of Religion, Naumov expressed satisfaction on the occasion at having the opportunity to welcome such a reliable friend of the Serbian nation who has once again given support to the government for safeguarding national sovereignty.
Bishop Joseph Homeyer said on behalf of the Commission of the Bishops’ Conferences of the European Community that church-state relations in Serbia are in harmony with EU standards.
He was particularly interested in the position of religious education in Serbia and in the question of returning church property. He gave concrete proposals for improving inter-religious dialogue and strengthening the social role of the church.
It was jointly stressed in the meeting that successful cooperation between the Ministry of Religion and the Commission of the Bishops’ Conferences of the European Community will continue, concludes the statement.
