Wreaths were laid at the tomb with the highest military and state honour by envoy of the Serbian President, representatives of the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy, top delegations of the Ministry of Defence and the Army General Staff, the Topola municipality, Crown Prince Aleksandar Karadjordjevic, as well as representatives of NGOs dedicated to cherishing the tradition of Serbian wars of freedom.
The sector for social welfare of war veterans and invalids at the Serbian Ministry of Labour and Social Policy, the Serbian Ministry of Defence and the Foundation of King Peter the First Karadjordjevic from Topola organised the observation of the 190th death anniversary of Karadjordje.
Petrovic Karadjordje, who was killed on July 26 in 1817 in Radovanjski Lug near Velika Plana was one of the most important military leaders in Serbia during the period of the uprising. His biggest successes in war were the battles in Ivankovac (1805), Misar and Deligrad (1806). The contribution of Karardjordje to the triumph of the Serbian uprising in the beginning of the First Serbian Uprising was immense.
