Lazarevic said that in the first round 77,023 students were admitted to various schools, while there are currently more than 10,000 spaces available in schools.
He said that today the second round of admissions began and students may submit preferences regarding courses of study and schools for remaining available spaces, and on July 12 they will be informed regarding their admissions.
Lazarevic said that a certain percentage of students were admitted into private secondary schools, foreign schools or military schools, while some did not continue their education. He said that prgrammes of education outside the framework of regular schooling will begin to attract young persons to continue their education.
Serbian Minister of Education Zoran Loncar said that there are 4,392 places available for four year study courses in secondary schools, and 6,591 places for three year study courses.
Loncar said that this year admissions to secondary schools were very successful and well organised, considering the fact that 62.5% students succeeded in entering schools which they preferred.
