Serbian Minister of Religion Radomir Naumov received today a representative of the Russian Orthodox Church in Serbia, head of the suite of Moscow Patriarchy in Belgrade Father Vitalij Tarasjev.
Naumov thanked the Russian Orthodox Church and Russia on their principled support in keeping Kosovo-Metohija within Serbia.
Naumov voiced hope that new talks on Kosovo status will begin soon, with the aim of finding a compromise solution, in line with principles of international law.
Tarasjev conveyed the position of Russian Patriarch Alexei II that the issue of Kosovo-Metohija can be resolved only in a way that is acceptable for both sides. He said that the position of the Russian Orthodox Church is that the question of Kosovo-Metohija will be a crucial issue for Europe over the long term and underlined that everyone is well aware that Kosovo-Metohija is Serbian sacred land.
Naumov and Tarasjev concluded that cooperation between the Serbian Ministry of Religion and the Russian Orthodox Church and community in Serbia has been very good so far and will be continued.
