Serbian painter Vladimir Velickovic became today a member of the French Academy of Fine Arts at a ceremony in the seat of this institution in Paris, attended by French academicians, representatives of Serbia and many other guests.
In his speech before members of the Academy, Velickovic said that he feels emotion and pride which he wants to share with his country Serbia.
This painter, who has lived and worked in Paris more than 40 years, is the first Serb to become a member of this four century old institution which is one of the pillars of French society.
The ceremony at which academic Jacque Taddei spoke about Velickovic's artistic career, was attended by Serbian Minister for Diaspora Milica Cubrilo, Serbian Ambassador to France Predrag Simic and Director of the Serbian Cultural Centre Zivadin Mitrovic.
