Head of the Water Directorate of the Serbian Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Nikola Marjanovic announced that Danube Day, June 29, will be celebrated by a series of events in Belgrade, Novi Sad, Donji Milanovac, Sombor, Valjevo and Majdanpek.

Marjanovic said at a press conference that this year's campaign, whose theme is "Celebrating Danube Cultures" aims at increasing public awareness of the Danube's importance in the lives of those living near it. Apart from the ecological, this campaign will also have an educational and cultural aspect.
He said that apart from the main celebration at Zemun Quay and Kalemegdan Fortress on June 30, a series of activities on the riversides will be held.
At Kalemegdan, there will be an exhibition of photos of Dragoljub Zamurovic and a performance of the Philharmonic of the Young, and the concluding part of the international art competition for children "Danube Master Art" will be held. A children's art workshop on the subject of the Danube for children will special needs will be held in Zemun, as well as an exhibition of Nina Todorovic.
The river island of Veliko Ratno Ostrvo will see a major clean-up of solid waste. In July, a seven-day ecological camp for students of the faculties of construction engineering, biology, agriculture and applied ecology will be organised.
Photographer Yann Bertrand will take photos of Danube's flows through Serbia, which he will later include in his international exhibition.
The Danube Day is celebrated every year in 13 Danube countries, and Serbia is one of the signatories of the International Convention on Danube Protection.
