Tadic said at the opening that he would like the pavilion to be revived and maintained since it is “an open window of our culture towards Europe and the world”.
It is another example of how much Serbia cares about being an equal-footed participant in international cultural, political and economic communication in the world. We will try to provide more assistance and present our country in the best light, said Tadic.
This year, Serbia is for the first time participating in its own right in this most important international visual arts gathering and is represented by a project of sculptor Mrdjan Bajic themed “Reset”, selected by Serbia’s renowned painter Vladimir Velickovic.
President Tadic is a sponsor of Serbia’s participation in this oldest visual arts exhibition, and its presentation was organised with the support of the ministries of international affairs and culture, as well as the Belgrade City Assembly.
At the invitation of the exhibition’s artistic director Robert Store, Zoran Naskovski, another artist from Serbia, will also exhibit his works.
The Venice Biennale begins on June 10 and will close on November 21.
