The 29th festival will last until June 30, and 20 films from France, Italy, Germany, Denmark, Finland, China, USA and other countries will compete for the main award.
Russia will be represented by three films, “Nothing Personal” by Larisa Sadilova, “Travelling with Domestic Animals” by Vera Storozeva, while the title of the third film is unknown as yet.
The MIFF, whose president is Nikita Mikhalkov, will also include a competition titled “Perspective” which will present new names in the film industry.
The MIFF was established in 1959 however, foreign films were screened for the first time in 1935 in the cinema “Udarnik”.
The MIFF has become one of the most prestigious film festivals in the world.
