After the screening, Kusturica appeared before the press accompanied by actors Miki Manojlovic, Ljiljana Blagojevic, Aleksandar Bercek, Marija Petronijevic and Uros Milovanovic.
Kusturica explained that his movie about a grandson who goes to the town to fulfill a promise he gave to his grandfather - to sell a cow, buy an icon and find a wife, has nothing to do with urban life in Serbia or Europe.
He said that his work is influenced by US movies from 1970s, such as Martin Scorsese's "Taxi Driver" and "Raging Bull". Kusturica said that he is trying to remain faithfull to ideas from such movies, which dealt with essential issues, but disappeared in the early 1980s under the tyranny of marketing.
One of the actors in "Zavet", his son Stribor, made music for this film.
