Perpetrator and man who ordered basketball player’s murder arrested

Police Director at the Serbian Ministry of Interior Miodrag Veljovic stated today that police members have arrested the perpetrator and the person who ordered the murder of basketball player Jovan Manovic from Split, who was shot dead in a Belgrade’s Zodiac café on May 9.

Veljovic told a press conference that police arrested Milanko Ivanovic from Cajetina on suspicion of committing the crime and Bojan Backovic from Uzice who is suspected of having ordered the murder.
He added that Manovic was an innocent victim and that he was murdered by mistake as the killer believed Manovic was member of the rival criminal gang.
The two criminals are members of a criminal gang dealing with murders, drug trade and robbery in Serbia and in Montenegro.
The police director did not specify who the target of the attack at Zodiac was, but noted that the investigation of the murder is ongoing.
