The celebration will be organised by the Serbian Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management’s water directorate. Central manifestation will be held in Belgrade, with Apatin, Novi Sad, Grocka and Smederevo to mark Danube Day as well.
According to water directorate head Nikola Marjanovic, the manifestation aims to link all Danube countries and improve economic and cultural ties among 83 million people in the Danube basin.
Serbia-Montenegro signed the International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River’s (ICPDR) Convention on Co-operation for the Protection and Sustainable Use of the River Danube in 2003.
