The seminar gathered 42 experts from 17 European countries, as well as representatives of the European Commission. Participants concluded that food safety and animal health are priorities for all countries.
The leading role of veterinarians was also stressed at the seminar, as well as the need for permanent training of veterinarians and other personnel, so as to ensure food safety. It also necessary to strengthen the national veterinarian services, with support from OIE specialised centres in France.
Director of the Veterinary Administration Dejan Krnjaic told a press conference that the seminar represents the beginning of cooperation with the aim to speed up Serbia’s integration into global trends and he added that it is necessary to define Serbia’s position in international trade and to observe the World Trade Organisation’s agreements.
Also attending the seminar were experts from Albania, Belarus, Bulgaria, Croatia, Estonia, France, Macedonia, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Romania, Slovakia, Turkey, and Ukraine.
