The author of the preface, academician Dejan Medakovic, stressed that such books are an encouragement for establishing ties between the native country and Serbs living abroad, adding that such programmes of cooperation should be very well envisaged because Serbs in other countries have not forgotten where their roots are.
He said that the richly illustrated book is an addition to the Serbian tragedy called migration, which is not only part of Serbia's history, but also a present issue.
Dusan Lopusina, who visited many Serb communities in the Diaspora while collecting material for the book, emphasised that bonds between emigrated Serbs and their home country are astonishing, as well as the amount of interest they show for Serbia.
Marko Lopusina said Serbia does not need to try too hard to enter the EU and the world, since it is already present there with its Oscar and Pulitzer Prize winners, scientists of Serbian origin, successful artists and sportspeople.
The book was published by Evro-Djanti from Belgrade under the auspices of the Diaspora and culture ministries.
