Director of elementary school Desanka Maksimovic in Novi Pazar Sumera Halilagic, Director of the home for adults with disabilities in Zemun Velimir Knezevic and Japanese Ambassador to Serbia Tadashi Nagai, signed today in the Serbian government agreements on donation by the Japanese government worth €128,000.

Ambassador Nagai said on the occasion that €69,728 is intended for the home for adults with disabilities in Zemun, while €58,272 is for the elementary school Desanka Maksimovic in Novi Pazar.
According to Director of home for adults with disabilities Velimir Knezevic funds from the donation will be used to secure special vehicles for the disabled.
This donation has a greater significance than just its monetary value, because it contributes to upholding the dignity of persons with disabilities and gives them a sense of security, said Knezevic.
Director of the elementary school Desanka Maksimovic Sumera Halilagic said that the funds provided by the Japanese government will be used for reconstruction of the school hall for physical education.

Sladjana Markovic expressed gratitude for the donation on behalf of the Ministry, and recalled that Serbia has harmonised its laws regarding social and health care, so that by the end of March it may sign the United Nation’s international Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
