Naumov said in an interview to Tanjug news agency that
the signing of the Memorandum on construction of a magistral gas pipeline through Serbia and Serbia's membership in the European Energy Community is very important because energy is the only industry that has become a part of the European Union.
He said that this major investment would not have entered Serbia if we had not adopted a new Constitution and reached macro economic stability. It is also important to note that
Serbia has the largest inflow of foreign direct investment and has become a leader in Europe in the speed of implementation of reforms.
Naumov said that 2006 will be remembered as a year in which Serbia made big economic achievements and voiced hope that such a trend will be continued in 2007.
Speaking about the work of the Ministry of Energy and Mining, Naumov said that this Ministry has prepared for the first time in 60 years a proposal of concessions for research and exploitation of mineral raw materials in the territory of Jarandolski basin and Crni Vrh.
He added that renovation works on the installations of the Electric Power Industry of Serbia have been carried out successfully, making it ready to be an equal player on the regional electricity market that will be formed next year.
The minister also mentioned very successful privatisations of the lead and zinc mines, such as Veliki Majdan from Ljubovija and voiced hope that the privatisation of the lead and zinc mine Grot in southern Serbia will yield good results.
