Kojadinovic said at a press conference that we have chances to bring Serbia back on the European film industry map and explained that so far Serbia has not had a representative festival of national importance.
The new festival should in the first place promote and popularise national film creation, not only in the country, but in the regional and international scene as well.
He said that in the past three years the Ministry of Culture has tried to offer a stronger support to the film industry and that in that period almost 50 movies have been begun and partly completed.
The Minister said that RSD 430 million will be set aside from the state budget for the film industry next year. Experiences showed that countries that managed to establish national film festivals, such as Hungary, Croatia and Bulgaria, get included in world development trends more easily and have better access to international funds.
