Vuksanovic told a press conference that volleyball players deserve to be congratulated and praised not just for their present success but also for all that they have done for sport in Serbia, adding that the men and
women’s volleyball teams are an example to children in Serbia.
Volleyball team coach Igor Kolakovic said that being among the top four teams in the world is a significant result for any team, but he and the players are sorry that they did not win a medal.
He regretted that Vladimir Grbic and Goran Vujevic, who brought world wide fame to Serbia and Montenegro in volleyball, will retire from the team without a medal.
A new beginning comes after this. We have young players and I hope that Serbia will continue achieving good results and that Montenegro will make its place among competitive teams, said Kolakovic, who is the last coach of the united team of Serbia and Montenegro.
Head of the Serbian Volleyball Federation Aleksandar Boricic expressed gratitude to Minister Vuksanovic for coming to receive the team even though this time they were unable to win a medal, and to all fans in Serbia and Montenegro who cheered for the women’s and men’s volleyball teams during the past month at the world championships in Japan.
Boricic stressed that the Minister’s gesture pleased the team because it shows that even fourth place in the world championship is a big success.
