Bulatovic told a press conference that a rulebook will be prepared during the upcoming week on the basis of which elections will be organised for organs of the Chamber and according to which the Chamber will begin with work. He added that currently it is expected that the Statute and Professional Ethics Code will be published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia.
He recalled that chambers of health service employees were formed in Serbia in June this year, and pointed to the fact that the Chamber must begin to register members six months from the time of formation, which is January 1, 2007.
The Statute of the Chamber of Serbian Physicians envisages decentralisation of that organisation, formation of five regional chambers, control of uncertified treatments and “black market” work done by chamber members, cooperation with other health service chambers, as well as the publication of books and other printed material.
It is also envisaged that registration of all doctors is obligatory in the chamber within three months, regardless whether they work in state owned or private practice, as well as equality in representation of state owned and private practice in all organs and bodies of the Chamber.
The Professional Ethics Code is the basis for establishing standards for safeguarding and improving the reputation, behaviour and authority of physicians, and for regulating relations among physicians, and between patients and physicians.
