Serbia, Croatia coordinate activities following serious traffic accident

Belgrade, 8 November 2026

Prime Minister Professor in a caretaker capacity Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, spoke by telephone today with Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia Andrej Plenković following a serious traffic accident in Croatia, in which two people lost their lives and several passengers were injured after a bus with Serbian registration plates overturned.

Macut expressed his gratitude to the Croatian Prime Minister for the swift response of the competent services, particularly medical teams and all those involved in providing first aid and treating the injured, as well as for the efforts being made to ensure that all passengers affected by this tragedy receive the necessary support.

Plenković expressed his sincere condolences to the families of the victims and the readiness of Croatian institutions to continue providing all necessary assistance.

The Serbian Prime Minister said that in moments such as these, when lives have been lost and families are faced with irreparable grief, it is most important to demonstrate humanity, solidarity and care for every person.

I extend my deepest condolences to the families of the victims and wish those injured a speedy and successful recovery. I am grateful to Prime Minister Plenković and all Croatian services that responded immediately and provided assistance to those affected, Macut said.

The competent ministries and institutions of Serbia and Croatia are in constant contact, exchanging information and coordinating all necessary activities aimed at providing assistance to the injured and the families of the victims.
