Minister of Mining and Energy in a caretaker capacity Dubravka Đedović Handanović held discussions with Director General for the Middle East and Europe at the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Kotaro Tanaka regarding progress on the Bistrica pumped-storage hydropower plant (HPP), one of the most significant projects in Serbia’s energy sector.

Đedović Handanović requested that the Japanese partners expedite their internal procedures while the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) study for the project is being finalised, ensuring full compliance with their requirements, with the study set to be submitted to them in December.
During the discussion, it was noted that the majority of technical issues have been resolved, marking an important step in the ongoing preparation of the project.
