Prime Minister Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, met today with Speaker of the Parliament of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria Khalida Boufedeche, who is leading her country’s delegation at the commemoration of the 65th anniversary of the first conference of the Non-Aligned Movement in Belgrade.

Significant opportunities for further enhancing cooperation with Algeria

Macut stressed that the traditional friendship between Serbia and Algeria provides a solid foundation for further enhancing political dialogue and cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
The Prime Minister expressed gratitude to Algeria for its principled support for Serbia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and welcomed the country’s decision to participate in Specialised Expo 2027 Belgrade.
The Prime Minister pointed to significant opportunities for further strengthening parliamentary, economic, cultural and educational cooperation.
Boufedeche assessed that the strong ties between the two countries had also been reaffirmed by Prime Minister Macut’s recent visit to Algeria and that Serbia, both throughout history and today, is an important country for Algeria.
The Speaker of the Algerian Parliament stressed that Algeria would be an active partner of Serbia at Expo 2027.
According to her, strategic partnerships in the fields of energy and renewable energy sources, infrastructure and tourism need to be launched as soon as possible.
