Macut emphasised that this is one of the most significant construction sites in the field of culture in Belgrade, where the former Post Office building is being restored to its recognisable appearance according to the original project of the great Serbian architect Momir Korunović, with a completely new purpose.
The Archaeological Museum of Serbia will span almost 11,000 square metres, which will function as a branch of the National Museum of Serbia and will display archaeological exhibits only. It will also feature two modern theatre stages, and the investment is worth approximately RSD three billion.
The Prime Minister said that it is our obligation to preserve what we have inherited and leave something valuable for future generations, assessing that the renovation of this building simultaneously restores a part of old Belgrade and creates a cultural space for the future.
Selaković underlined that this project will enable Serbia's extremely rich archaeological heritage to be preserved, studied and presented to the domestic and international public in a modern way.
