Investing in Belgrade City Museum is investment in preserving cultural heritage

Prime Minister Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, today toured the reconstruction, renovation and adaptation works on the new premises of the Belgrade City Museum, housed in the former Military Academy building.

Macut stated that this is one of the most significant projects in the field of culture, through which Belgrade will gain a modern museum space worthy of its rich history.

He assessed that the new premises will make the museum’s extensive archaeological, historical and art collections more accessible to citizens and visitors, while providing new opportunities for exhibitions, scientific research, educational activities and cultural programmes.

The Prime Minister noted that investing in the Belgrade City Museum is an investment in preserving cultural heritage, national identity and the culture of remembrance, as well as a valuable legacy for future generations.

Upon completion of the works, the Belgrade City Museum will have 17,400 square metres of space with modern facilities for the preservation, protection and presentation of more than 150,000 artefacts, he said.
