European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Training and Multilingualism Jan Figel said today during a meeting with Serbian Minister of Culture Dragan Kojadinovic that the European Commission is to offer expert assistance to Serbia in the accession to the Culture 2007 project.
The EU Council of Culture Ministers is expected to adopt this programme in mid November, and then in two months' time to define conditions for Serbia's accession to that project.
Also, there is a possibility of setting aside a part of Serbia's accession fee from the new pre-accession instrument - the IPA programme.
At the Serbian National Library, Figel addressed directors of cultural institutions, representatives of the civil sector, and students of cultural management. Before the official meeting, Kojadinovic and Figel visited the Saint Sava Temple in Vracar, the statement reads.
