Following the meeting with Kojadinovic at the Serbian national Library, Figel stressed that the European Commission will do its best to facilitate Serbia's participation in EU projects.
It will endorse the proposal that the "European Heritage Days" festival begins in Serbia next year, he added.
He also welcomed the willingness of the Serbian government and parliament to ratify the UNESCO Charter on the Protection of Cultural Heritage.
Figel said that partner projects at regional level, such as twinning of cities, help increase cultural cooperation between Serbia and EU.
Kojadinovic said that cultural cooperation is "a speedy road to EU", stressing the importance of cooperation with countries in the region because this cooperation can play the role of a bridge to re-establish connections severed in the past.
The Minister stated that they also discussed European Commission's recommendations on cultural cooperation, cultural heritage protection, respect for cultural diversity and digitalisation process in projects organised by the Council of Europe, UNESCO and other international organisations.
He added that Figel promised to help Serbia get visa relaxations so that young people, students and artists can travel more easily in the EU.
