An expert group for the realisation of the project of construction of the Belgrade-Bar highway, which gathers experts from Serbia-Montenegro, will begin its planning work tomorrow and will present details of the project shortly so that the construction of the highway can begin as soon as possible, Serbian Minister of Capital Investment Velimir Ilic and Montenegrin Minister of Maritime Affairs and Transport Andrija Lompar agreed at a meeting today.
Minister Ilic announced that the construction of the first section of the highway, from Belgrade to Pozega, will begin soon, stressing that Montenegro will start the realisation of the project on its territory.
Ilic and Lompar said that the project of construction of Belgrade-Bar highway has received support from many international firms who showed a real interest in taking part in its building. Ilic said that he held talks with representatives of the Italian government on the issue, adding that talks with the Italian minister of transport and the prime minister are expected soon. According to Ilic, Italy is very interested in this corridor because of the link Belgrade-Bar, Bar-Bari and then with the Italian Autostrada del Sole ( Highway of the Sun).
Ilic told reporters that representatives of the two major companies in this project, Buik and Vinci, visited Serbia recently to discuss the project.
The Serbian Minister of Capital Investment said that the highway Belgrade-southern Adriatic has still not been included in the high priority corridors of general interest for Europe, but Serbia-Montenegro wants to highlight the importance of this road for Europe.
