Serbia to get rulebook on electing principals by end-2006

Serbian Minister of Education and Sport Slobodan Vuksanovic announced today that a rulebook on the licence for electing school principals will be adopted by year's end. In the meantime the date from which it will be applied will also be specified.

Vuksanovic told a press conference that in order to apply for the post of school principle, apart from the law-prescribed conditions, the prospective candidate will have to have certain skills, knowledge and capabilities that will be tested.
Satisfactory planning, business and time organisation skills, human resource management and team work will be a must for the position, as well as the knowledge of the nature of the education process.
Assistant Minister of Education and Sport Bogoljub Lazarevic said that the rulebook will enable a simpler election of school and pre-school principals. The dilemma of whether the candidates should possess managerial or pedagogical skills will be put to an end since the rulebook provides a combination of the two.
Lazarevic explained that the exam, which will be taken at the Ministry of Education and Sport, comprises two parts at which leadership, managerial and communication skills will be tested.
