Serbian Minister of Culture Dragan Kojadinovic and Director-General for International Cooperation and Development at the French Foreign Ministry Philippe Etienne agreed today in Paris that bilateral cooperation between Serbia and France in the field of culture should be strengthened.
Etienne told Tanjug that there is interest on both sides to develop new projects in film industry, museum exchange and protection of cultural legacy as well as in the exchange of young talents.
He stressed that Serbia’s status in the International Francophonie Organisation (OIF) provides good groundwork for a more intensive cultural exchange.
According to Etienne, the theme of the talks was also how to provide a better exchange of young talents and students through relaxing the visa regime.
Kojadinovic emphasised that it is necessary that the French Embassy to Belgrade meets not only acclaimed artists but also young talents and announced the organisation of a year of Serbian culture in France by 2010.
He also announced a project by Belgrade publisher Paideia to translate five French authors every year and also added that the French Cultural Centre in Belgrade will finance translation of Serbian authors into French.
