Prime Minister Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, stated today in Yerevan that Serbia remains firmly committed to strengthening international cooperation in the fight against drugs and stressed that the fight against drug abuse and organised crime is one of the key security challenges of modern Europe.

Macut, who is participating in the Eighth Summit of the European Political Community, addressed the panel “European Coalition Against Drugs”, organised by France and Italy, chaired by French President Emmanuel Macron and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
He pointed out that prevention must be at the centre of all efforts, pointing to the importance of investing in education, raising awareness and protecting young people from the dangers of drugs.
Along with prevention, as he said, a strong institutional response must be ensured, which includes strengthening cooperation in law enforcement, as well as more efficient exchange of intelligence.
Macut particularly stressed that the protection of children and young people is the most important obligation of all states, confirming full commitment to the common mission of fighting drugs and organised crime.
