Taking into account that Turkish investments in Serbia exceed €2 billion, Macut and Yılmaz discussed the continuation of cooperation in the fields of economy and investment, as well as in tourism, given that Türkiye is the second most popular destination for Serbian tourists.
Emphasising that Turkish investments in Serbia play a significant role in creating new jobs and developing local communities, the Prime Minister stated that Serbia attaches great importance to its relations with Türkiye as an important partner, and underlined readiness to further deepen cooperation.
The meeting also addressed the deepening of defence cooperation, as well as cooperation in education and science, where Macut and Yılmaz agreed on organising joint academic and scientific events.
It was also assessed that the good and friendly relations between President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić and President of the Republic of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan provide a strong impetus for the further development of bilateral cooperation and the implementation of joint projects.
In that context, the interlocutors emphasised the importance of Vučić’s visit to Türkiye in February this year, as well as the upcoming visit of the President of Türkiye to Serbia, expected in May or June.
The Vice President of the Republic of Türkiye thanked Macut for Serbia’s participation in the Balkan Peace Platform, launched in 2025 at the initiative of Türkiye, noting that diplomacy and dialogue are essential for resolving all issues and challenges, and that conflicts are not a solution.
The meeting was also attended by Ambassador of Serbia in Ankara Aca Jovanović.
