Belgrade, Oct 6, 2006 –The Serbian Ministry of Culture organised a reception last night to honour Serbia's first solo appearance at the 10th Venice Biennale on architecture at which Serbia was presented under the theme "New Efforts" and received the highest mark.
Exhibition Commissar and Professor at Belgrade's Architecture Faculty Spasoje Krunic said that Serbia's exhibition at the Biennale was exquisite in everyone's opinion.
According to Krunic, the catalogue, poster and music, composed by Zoran Simjanovic, were given the highest marks, as well as the events that took place at Serbia's Pavilion in Giardino, an exclusive location in Venice owned by Serbia, who bought it decades ago when it was still a monarchy.
Krunic said that the fact that among 50 countries Serbia was the best ranked makes its success even more important because the entire work on preparing for the Biennale was done with little money and behind the schedule. He therefore added that preparations for the 2008 Biennale will begin immediately.
The international architecture exhibition in Venice closes on November 19.
