Prime Minister Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, met today in Algiers with Prime Minister of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria Sifi Ghrieb, to whom he expressed gratitude for the welcome and the consistent position regarding the non-recognition of the unilaterally declared independence of the so-called Kosovo.

The Prime Minister of Algeria underlined that his country remains firmly committed to the principle of non-interference in the internal political affairs of other states, emphasising that this is one of the foundations of Algeria's foreign policy.
The interlocutors noted that economic exchange between the two countries is recording a slight growth and assessed that there is significant room for its further improvement.
An agreement was reached on the need to intensify cooperation and that it is the prime ministers who should be the initiators of this initiative.
Agriculture, transport, health, energy, education and tourism were identified as key areas for the development of cooperation.
The Algerian Prime Minister particularly pointed to the importance of the geostrategic position of both countries and emphasised that Algeria represents the "great gate of Africa", while Serbia has an important role as a hub in this part of Europe.
In this context, the interlocutors agreed that it is necessary to seriously consider opportunities for mutual investments and strengthening economic ties.
